Laem Singh is a 300 meter cove of soft golden sand between Kamala and Surin, backed by giant granite boulders and palms. Since 2017 the way in has been by small local boat from the south end of Surin Beach, or on foot along the rocks in about 15 minutes. Snorkelers find fish around the rocks at both headlands, and a small Thai restaurant serves from a wooden terrace built into the boulders.

“You can snorkel on the left side of it next to the rock and see plenty of fish.”

Surin Beach is a long curve of soft, pale sand on Phuket's west coast, shaded along its back by casuarina trees, with water that turns deep turquoise in the dry season. Since the beachfront restaurants were cleared in 2025 it has gone back to open sand and trees, with food stalls and a coffee truck set behind it. Lifeguards mark a swimming zone with flags, and at the southern end a path over the rocks leads to Laem Singh.
“Great for sunset. No entrance fee.”

Pansea Beach is a sheltered bay just north of Surin, its sand backed by coconut palms and tropical trees, with The Surin at one end and Amanpuri on the headland at the other. The protected water is good for swimming, with snorkeling along the rocks at the edges of the bay. Evenings here are calm, and the Beach Restaurant at The Surin sets tables on the grass above the sand for dinner at sunset.
“The waves are just right: not placid, not turbulent.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
