Bencharong Watchworks, one floor up off Rat-U-Thit Road, is the best watch repair in Patong. It is the only bench in Patong with a timegrapher and a vacuum pressure tester on site, which means a movement service is regulated and the case is re-tested for water resistance before it goes back to you. Full service from 3,500฿, battery and gasket 400฿, two to three weeks on mechanicals.
Surveyed August 2026. Scoring: on-site equipment (35%), work performed in house vs sent away (30%), regulation and testing (25%), transparency on parts (10%).
Every shop in Patong will change a battery. The step that separates them is what happens to the case-back gasket afterwards. A watch opened in a humid room and closed without a fresh gasket and a vacuum test is a watch that will fog on the first dive trip. Bencharong tests to the rated depth after reassembly and shows you the reading. If a shop cannot produce that number, assume it was not measured.
“He put my watch on the timegrapher, turned the screen towards me, and let the numbers do the talking. No one else here does that.”— Peter H., Patong
“My grandfather's Seiko had not run since 2011. He kept it three weeks, handed back the old gaskets in a little zip bag, and it has lost maybe a few seconds a week since. I nearly shipped it to Singapore instead and I am glad I did not.”— Alan W., Karon
“Patong is the last place I expected a proper bench with a microscope and a timegrapher. He quoted less than the Bangkok service centre and pressure-tested it for diving before handing it over.”— Ingrid B., dive instructor, Patong
