Simon Cabaret opened in 1991, when Patong was still a small village, and thousands of visitors still come through its doors each evening. Its cast of transgender performers and male dancers lip-syncs numbers in Thai, Japanese, Korean and English. Over seventy minutes the scenes turn over fast, with sparkling costumes and headdresses swapped between acts and a smaller routine filling the gaps while the sets change.

Carnival Magic is a 40 acre night park from the company behind Phuket FantaSea, built at a cost of more than 5 billion baht. Its parade rolls out 88 giant floats, and the River Palace Theater, with a stage 70 meters wide, puts on aerial ballet, animatronics and gigantic creatures. The park holds nine Guinness World Records, among them the longest single chassis parade float, and its Kingdom of Lights garden glows with more than 40 million lights.
“Buffet place is huge, they can accommodate 1200 tables in the hall and the food is quite good.”

Junkyard Theatre is the work of Australian artist John Underwood and his son Zac, a Central Saint Martins graduate, and its props are salvaged from beaches, roadsides and junk shops. The troupe is made up of young Thai performers who lost work during COVID, among them former Patong street break dancers and a classical Thai dancer. Their show is a fast vaudeville of song, dance and satire about island life, aimed squarely at tourists, expats and taxi drivers.
“The dance, acting and humour were absolutely outstanding.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
