Le Meridien fills a jungle-backed cove on Karon Noi, and its freeform main pool is one of the largest on Phuket, with a lagoon pool, a kids' pool and a hot tub beside it. The resort has its own entry to a 500-meter stretch of beach and spreads over 40 acres of gardens holding a nine-hole mini golf course and four floodlit tennis courts. Guests can try archery, kayaking, paddleboarding and surf lessons, and the green roofs among the palms give the resort a retro tropical look.

JW Marriott Phuket is one of the grand five-star resorts of the island, set in palm gardens on Mai Khao Beach, where a reflection pool in the open lobby draws the eye straight out to the Andaman Sea. Families gather at the main pool, the largest of three, for its waterslides, while adults have the South Pool to themselves, with a hot tub corner and a waterfall running off the roof of the swim-up bar. Most guests spend the day poolside, where staff bring drinks and fresh coconuts to the loungers, and the long, quiet beach is there for a walk at sunset.
“And the multiple swimming pools were very spacious and relaxing.”

Renaissance Phuket's main pool has infinity edges and sits behind a green lawn on Mai Khao Beach, where the resort meets Sirinat National Park, and every villa has a private plunge pool of its own. Quan Spa offers hot sand therapy and herbal massage around a large circular pool set under an opening in its roof. Takieng cooks Thai food looking out at the beach, and Yunami works as a coastal Japanese izakaya.

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
