Pomodoro in Kata bakes more than 30 pizzas and its focaccia in a large wood oven, and makes its own pasta, from lasagna Bolognese to ravioli and tortellini. Soft bread with oil and vinegar arrives before the food, and the eggplant lasagna is built on layers of grilled eggplant. Mario and his team are happy to help with the long, well-illustrated menu.

Il Tagliere takes its name from the Italian board of cured meats, and a meat platter with bruschetta is on the menu to open a meal. The pasta is homemade, with a ricotta and spinach filled pasta in truffle sauce among the choices, and the pizza is thin and crisp. Portions are large, and a table split on what to eat can order from the Thai side of the menu, which includes a panang curry.

The Boathouse is a restaurant whose wine list has held the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 1995, and by 2005 no restaurant in Thailand had held it longer. The kitchen pairs Southern Thai cooking with international dishes, and the Thai dishes include Yam Som O, a pomelo salad with shrimp. There is a degustation menu with a wine from the cellar of more than 150 labels for each course, and a second-floor terrace looks over the beach.
