Shamu Shamu is a very large pet supply store, stocked with food, beds, toys, shampoos and medicine for dogs, cats and birds, and its prices often match or beat the online marketplaces. The owner speaks English and the staff know the brands, so someone new to the island with a puppy or a rescue cat can get set up in one visit. Members get lower prices, and there is a second branch in Thalang.

Fluke is a family business, and the family works the shop floor together, giving plain advice on feeding, care and grooming. The shelves cover whatever a dog, cat, bird or fish might need, and the range of dog food and treats includes brands few other shops carry. Regular customers can get home delivery, and now and then a litter of puppies is in the shop to play with.
“The prices are reasonable and they always answer your phone for any questions.”

“Wide assortment, friendly staff. They have some food and treats for guinea pigs.”

Smilepet is a grooming shop with its own café, so owners can sit over coffee, Thai food or cake while a dog or cat is bathed, trimmed and has its nails and ears seen to. Dogs can also board at Smile Pets' Dog Inn, a few hundred metres along Luang Pho Chaem Road, and the shop will fetch pets from home for an extra charge. Groomers also colour, bleach and dye coats and give medicated baths, and one owner of a nervous little dog wrote that the staff took time to win her over before starting.
“My mutt needed an emergency bath after rolling in something nasty. Rushed here and enjoyed a good coffee while waiting.”

How the points work
