Sizzle is on the roof of Avista Hideaway, with Freedom Beach, Paradise Beach and the green hills laid out below, and almost every table gets the view. The kitchen is a grill: steaks, Kurobuta pork chops and seafood, with tuna tartare to start and tiramisu to finish. Simona, the Italian manager, runs the floor, and a birthday gets a song with guitar and bubbles.

La Gritta has served Italian food at the Amari resort since the early 2000s, from a terrace that looks straight out over Patong Bay to the Andaman Sea. Couples book a sea view table ahead for their last night or a big date, and the meal starts with a basket of freshly baked bread. People talk most about the truffle pasta and the seafood risotto.

EUROthai is a corner restaurant on Soi Permpong Pattana, open on two sides to the breeze, with covered and outdoor tables tucked off Patong's main street within reach of the beach. Its Thai menu runs from som tum and green curry to tom yum, and a clearly marked vegetarian menu makes tofu versions of pad Thai, spring rolls and curries. On the Western side the pizza dough is made fresh in house, and the owners, who speak several languages, set the spice to each diner's taste.
“A no-brainer for 1st shot at Thai food in Patong.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
