Zimplex Mixology Laboratory is a small bar on Phang Nga Road in Phuket Town, and it serves shooters, no standard cocktails. The bartender builds each one in front of you like a science experiment, layer by layer. Seating is limited.

DOXA is a square platform on the second floor of the Fira beach club, reached by a glass-framed skywalk and built so it seems to float high above Kata Noi Beach and the Andaman Sea. Roots, the house take on a boulevardier, adds mezcal smoke, beetroot and apricot brandy to rye and sweet vermouth, while Ananas Spice pairs bourbon with tepache and coconut liqueur under an airy foam. The Sky Sofas face straight out to the horizon for sunset, and a second row of Overlook Sofas is perched above Fira's pool.

Club No. 43, Phuket's first mixology-style bar, fills a brick-walled Sino-Portuguese shophouse on Yaowarat Road, with velvet armchairs and red roses on the tables and on the bartenders' lapels. The house list leans on Thai flavors, and the 43 Old Town pairs tom yum vodka with passion fruit and arrives in a battered aluminum kettle with silver leaf and a dried chili. Heritage Site goes further with a tequila infused with grilled oysters, and the whole list changes every few months.
“Each cocktail was expertly crafted, beautifully presented, and perfectly balanced in flavour.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
