Rumblefish's hostel fills the second and third floors above its dive center, in a quiet neighborhood of Kata a seven minute walk from the beach, and it takes only guests who are diving with the school. The four-bed dorm has a balcony of its own, and the private double looks out over Kata Village from a small balcony. Divers share a kitchen with free coffee and tea, and students on some PADI courses get meals cooked by the owner.

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question.
