Avista Hideaway sits in the hills above Patong, far enough from the beach road to be quiet, with views over the hills to the sea. Many of its suites have a whirlpool bath, and some add a private plunge pool. Sunset is the hour for Sizzle, the rooftop restaurant facing the sea, and Tambu, the other rooftop restaurant, serves Indian food in a setting styled after the tents of the Mughal emperors.

Amari Phuket stands at the southern end of Patong Beach, past the bridge, on a peaceful stretch of the bay, and most of its rooms face the sea. Guests snorkel off the hotel's own small beach, and in the dry months The Jetty serves cocktails over the water at sunset. La Gritta, the Italian restaurant, looks across Patong Bay, and a free shuttle runs to the middle of town on request.
“Rooms are spacious and sea view rooms offer a spectacular view from room’s balcony.”

The resort sits on a quiet cove of white sand in thick tropical gardens. Children get a water playground with slides and spray jets, a kids club run by dedicated staff, and a family pool near the Nahm Tok pool with its waterfall. Rooms are spacious, with warm wood, turquoise accents and big balconies, and The Rum Shack bar sits on the sand.

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
