Spa Burasari takes its name and its idea from the burasari flower, and its treatments draw on both Eastern and Western healing, worked with coconut oils and creams. The Burasari Signature Massage runs 90 or 120 minutes and moves from Swedish strokes into Thai stretching, Lomi Lomi and forearm pressure on acupuncture points. Spa suite bookings open with a 30 minute purification ritual of herbal foot bath, dry brushing, hot bath and local elixirs, and a sound therapy uses hand beaten Tibetan bowls.

Siladon's Patong spa is a Thai-style teak house set among trees at The Marina Hotel, with its own swimming pool and outdoor showers. Its five-hour Siladon Bliss package combines scrubs and facials with herbal compress massage. Parents can bring children along, and the staff set aside a quiet spot where a child can rest during the treatment.

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
