Bang Tao's beach runs for about six kilometers, and at low tide the sea leaves a wide band of firm, wet sand that is a pleasure to run on. At dawn the flat lanes behind the beach and through the Laguna resorts are quiet enough to add an inland loop. The beach clubs along the sand make an easy finish line for a drink afterward.

The paved road around Bang Wad Reservoir in Kathu makes a quiet 6.4-kilometer loop. Jungle and old rubber plantations shade most of it, so it stays pleasant to run even at midday, with glimpses of the water between the trees. Cars are rare on the loop, which local runners and cyclists use every day.

Patong Beach curves for 2.6 kilometers around the bay, and at low tide its firm white sand makes an easy, flat run. A sidewalk runs between the beach and the road for much of the way, so the route can switch from sand to pavement. The sand stays cool underfoot in the early morning and evening.
