The Thai name, Kho Sam Haad, means the hill of the three beaches, and from the top Kata Noi, Kata and Karon line up one behind another along the coast. Koh Poo, a small island also called Crab Island, sits off the shore of Kata in the middle of the frame. The lookout has been here since the 1990s, when it went by Kata Viewpoint, and it still costs nothing to stand there in the warm light of late afternoon.
“The view point is also a drone zone so I was able to get some great photos from above.”

Laem Promthep means God's Cape, after Brahma, and the headland is the southernmost point of Phuket, with Koh Kaew and Koh Racha Yai out on the water. The Kanchanaphisek Lighthouse, built in 1996 for King Bhumibol's 50th year on the throne, flashes white every nine seconds and keeps a small free museum of ship lanterns inside. Beside it, a shrine to Phra Phrom is crowded with elephant statues left by people whose wishes came true.

The name, Pa Hin Dum, comes from the flat black rock slabs that cover the summit, about 290 meters above the sea. From the rocks the view runs over Nai Harn and Ao Sane to Promthep Cape, with Koh Kaew Yai and Racha Yai on the horizon and the cliff falling away steeply below. The last stretch is a steep forest trail of about 200 meters, five to seven minutes on foot, and sneakers or hiking shoes help.

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
