Grab is the only ride hailing app allowed to pick up inside Phuket Airport, from official green roofed booths at Exit 8 of Terminal 2 and Exit 1 of Terminal 3. The fare is fixed and shown before you book, and you can pay in cash, by card, or with WeChat Pay and Alipay. Airport pickups can be booked up to 90 days ahead, and with so many drivers on the app it's a safe bet for a late arrival or a first visit.

“Grab is the most established ride-hailing app in Thailand and currently the only app with an officially approved pickup zone inside the airport grounds.”

“Grab is the only ride-hailing app officially authorised to collect passengers within the HKT airport compound.”

Bolt picks up airport passengers just outside the terminal area, about 300 meters from the exits, at a meeting point shown in the app. Fares are confirmed upfront and usually run 20 to 30 percent below other options, and the XL and Van categories fit families with luggage. Couples and small groups traveling light save money if they don't mind the short walk to the pickup point.

“it frequently produces a competitive fare”

a Google reviewer

“The Bolt app has a useful feature for scheduling a ride in advance for a specific date and time.”

inDrive lets the rider name a price for the trip, and nearby drivers either take it or answer with a counter-offer. Around Rawai and Chalong, where drivers bid against each other, a well-pitched offer often lands 30 to 40 percent below the Grab fare. Most drivers here want cash, so riders should keep small notes ready to pay the agreed fare.

“you decide who to ride with and for how much”

a Google reviewer

“the rider and driver have a more direct role in agreeing the price”

How the points work

We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.

Award badges

Each business in the top 3 can show its Phuket Ranked award on its own website, free of charge. Ask and we will send the badge and add it for you.
