After Beach Bar is a rustic wooden bar on the hillside above Kata Noi, with an open terrace looking straight down over the bay, and it fills up at sunset. Inside it plays reggae, with wagon wheels, plank shelving and Jamaican flags hung beside the Thai ones. The Mai Tai comes in a pineapple, and for food get the fried fish with three flavor sauce.

The Tavern is a family sports bar on a quiet side street a few minutes' walk from the beach, with sport on the screens and a British pub menu. The Sunday roast is what it is known for, the meat cooked properly and served in a decent portion with apple crumble to follow, and on Sundays the room fills up. Through the rest of the week it is fish and chips and a thick milkshake.

A live band takes the stage at Back Cat's Bar in Kata every night, working through rock classics from Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd to the Red Hot Chili Peppers while the crowd sings along. Between sets there is a free pool table with good cues, and the staff will sometimes join guests for a board game. The cocktails are well made, and the bar also pours Guinness alongside a long list of spirits.
