Cafe Phuket Viewpoint is built down a hillside above the sea on the coast road between Patong and Kamala, with seating on several levels so almost every table looks straight out over the water. Its terraces are cut into the rocky slope and joined by steep staircases, with Bali-style swings over the sea, a piano and dresses to rent for photos. Diners order and pay at the gate before heading down, and the lower deck takes the best angle on the sunset.

Hern sits on Thaweewong Road across from Patong Beach, with a tropical-style room and outdoor tables facing the sand, serving everything from slow breakfasts to evening cocktails. The coffee program centers on V60 pour-overs, and the salmon toast comes on thick, airy, buttery brioche. Each table has a call button for service, and laptop workers can settle in for a couple of hours without anyone minding.

Beach Bites cooks a long, light menu from 7 in the morning until 9 at night, from shakshuka with poached eggs and feta and salmon and spinach eggs Benedict to acai bowls and tuna teriyaki poke, with vegan and gluten-free choices throughout. The bright, air-conditioned room belongs to the Nap Patong hotel, a couple of hundred metres back from the beach on Rainbow Street. A juice bar, homemade gelato and fresh baking fill a grab-and-go counter.
