Hong Khao Tom Pla is a small yellow wooden shophouse on Kra Road in Phuket Town, named for its fish and rice porridge. It has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand every year since 2019, and the guide points to the sour and spicy seafood soup with roe and the crab curry. The owner does all the cooking, with each order made fresh on two woks.

Raya opened in 1994, when Kularb Jesadawal, a former bank employee, began serving her family's Phuket home cooking in an early twentieth century Sino-Portuguese mansion. The rooms keep their original mosaic floor tiles, with old tea and coffee posters on the walls, and the owner still makes the rounds of the tables. The spicy crab curry in coconut milk, poured over thin rice noodles, is recommended.

Yu Huang is a Cantonese dim sum restaurant on Chaofah West Road, elegant and comfortable enough for a long family lunch. Its Peking duck is carved by the chef at the table. The har gow and the scallop dumplings arrive hot and full of flavor.
