China Inn fills a century-old Sino-Portuguese shophouse on Thalang Road that once changed money for Chinese tin miners, and its restoration won a conservation architecture award. Tables sit in a cool garden courtyard at the back, where the deep-fried tofu in tamarind sauce is a standout. Prawns wrapped in rice noodles and fried until crisp come close behind, among plenty of vegetarian dishes.
“They have a lovely cool garden and the house is nicely preserved.”

Hong Khao Tom Pla is a small yellow wooden shophouse on Kra Road in Phuket Town, named for its fish and rice porridge. It has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand every year since 2019, and the guide points to the sour and spicy seafood soup with roe and the crab curry. The owner does all the cooking, with each order made fresh on two woks.

Boonrat Dim Sum has been steaming breakfast in Phuket's old town since 1917, and the fourth generation of the family runs it now. The shrimp dumplings, fragrant and fresh, are recommended, as is the seaweed wrapped minced pork, with local tea on the side. Locals and visitors share tables early in the morning and they fill fast, so get there early.
“The price awesome. A great spot for an early morning bite.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
