Mr. Kusuma and his wife run Kusuma Halal Thai Seafood from an alley beside a bank in Patong, where they serve at tables by the road and talk to guests in Malay as well as Thai and English. Order less than you think you need, since the portions are made for sharing, and ask what is good that day; the owner's usual answer is the salted chili prawns. Dinner can end with a plate of mango on the house.

Bang Mud is a halal seafood restaurant on floating rafts between Laem Hin and Coconut Island, reached by the restaurant's free longtail boat from the pier. The fish are kept alive in nets between the rafts until they are ordered, and the blue crab is a house favorite. Guests can sit on the floor as locals do or at regular tables, and there is a prayer room.

Aroon Po Chana is a family-owned halal kitchen a short way from Phuket's Old Town, where roti is dipped into goat or beef curry. A fried egg on top of the roti and curry set is recommended, because the runny yolk mixes into the curry. The pandan roti is filled with pandan custard, fried until lightly crisp and spread with more custard on top.
“I like the briyani rice.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
