The Library is the old town's late cocktail bar, and on most nights the room is full by eleven, so get there by half past ten if you want a seat. Bartenders work the bar with fire and flair, a violinist sometimes plays over the DJ, and the list runs from the classics to molecular cocktails. Behind the bar, a second room runs as a small club.
“Amazing interior design, great bartender, really good DJ mix.”

The Fool is named for the tarot card that stands for a leap into the unknown, and if you would rather not choose from the menu you can draw a card and have the bartender make the drink it points to. Each fruit and flower in the glass is picked for its meaning in mythology and dream lore, and the house Fool arrives in a black glass lined with copper, a fizzy mix of gin, vodka, sparkling wine and carrot punch. The bar fills a renovated three-story building in the old town, with more secluded red banquettes upstairs, and bartenders from top Asian bars drop in for guest shifts.
“Overall The Fool is a great hidden gem speakeasy-style bar.”

Shhh hides behind a door covered in keys on Thalang Road, dressed up as a key-cutting shop, and you get in by turning the handle and walking straight through like the Keymaker in The Matrix. Inside the old Sino-Portuguese shophouse, floor-to-ceiling projections of AI-animated famous landmarks wrap around the dark room. The cocktails go by codes instead of names, and N.013, a tribute to Phuket, blends cocoa husk vodka with Chambord, sake, kombucha, coconut-bergamot cordial and jackfruit.
“The drinks were creative and neatly executed, with interesting combinations throughout the menu.”

“The music was enjoyable without being too loud, creating a perfect atmosphere.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
