Go La has been cooking Hokkien noodles in Phuket Town since the early 1900s, and the third generation of the family now works the charcoal-fired wok you can hear from every one of its few tables. The yellow noodles are fried in dark soy with crispy pork and fish cake until they pick up a light char from the wok. The Michelin Guide has listed the shop for several years, yet at lunch most of the tables are still taken by locals.

Mee Ton Poe has fried Hokkien noodles at the clock tower roundabout since 1946, and its mee pad Hokkien is thick yellow noodles with pork and seafood in a brown gravy, with a soft egg on top. Most tables add a few pork satay skewers, and the shop next door serves the same noodles as a soup. Bring cash, because the shop does not take cards or bank transfers.
“As a Phuket local, Mee Ton Poe has been one of my favorite traditional restaurants since I was young.”

“The taste has stayed authentic and original over the years, which is why I still keep coming back.”

Kopitiam by Wilai cooks the Chinese and Thai food of old Phuket Town, with Hokkien mee made with thick yellow noodles or thin mee hoon, as you prefer. Spice and sweetness are adjusted to your taste, and the fruit sodas are made in house, with a butterfly pea flower drink for hot days. The century-old shophouse on Thalang Road was the Bumrungwong family home, and its walls are hung with old photographs of Phuket's tin mines.
“Lovely place with lots of authentic old world charm and the food was delicious.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
