The Boathouse opened on Kata Beach in 1989 as Mom Tri's Boathouse, designed by the Harvard-educated Thai architect Mom Luang Tridhosyuth Devakul, and it became known as a culinary retreat. A later revamp brought white interiors to the sea-facing rooms in place of the old dark wood, and the outdoor pool faces the ocean. The Boathouse Restaurant sits right above the beach serving Southern Thai dishes, backed by an 800-bottle wine cellar that pours three dozen labels by the glass.

Kata Rocks sets its Sky Villas along a private hill looking over Kata Beach and Koh Pu, with simple lines and wide glazing to frame the ocean, and each villa has its own infinity pool of 7 to 14 meters on the terrace. Private chefs come in for barbecues at the villa, and the Wine Cellar is given over to premium wine and champagne. The Infinite Luxury spa adds chromotherapy, an Iso-Benessere water massage bed and a Metronap rest pod room to its treatment menu.

Chanalai Flora Resort welcomes arrivals with a cold Thai juice, an aromatherapy cold flannel and a mini ice cream cone. Both of its pools have swim-up bars, and a QR code at the loungers lets guests order food and drinks that staff bring out to them. Families get a children's pool and a free kids' club, and the hillside resort puts on barbecue nights with live entertainment.
