Top Russell, the Phuket-born chef whose Bangkok restaurant Mia made him the first Thai chef with a Michelin star for Western cooking, opened SōL back home in late 2024 as a relaxed, all-day place. His roast chicken has crisp skin and a deep jus, and the Thai side of the menu has a khao soi that early diners count among the best on the island. The name means sun, and the room follows it with yellow walls and big windows that fill it with daylight.

Siam Supper Club is a New York-style steakhouse that has been part of Bang Tao dining for about two decades, and its 2021 renovation kept the dark varnished wood, the long bar and the vintage look. The grill handles aged Angus ribeye, Wagyu tenderloin and a tomahawk carved at the table, while the French onion soup and New York cheesecake have stayed on the menu. A walk-in cellar holds more than 200 labels with vintages going back to 1939, wine by the glass comes in generous pours at prices lower than the room suggests, and Jazz Nights keep the old supper club spirit alive.

Black Cat has served French cooking in Bang Tao since 1996, in a dimly lit open-air house of bamboo and wood with a well-stocked bar down one side and a Chat Noir poster on the wall. The kitchen sticks to the classics, such as onion soup, pork chop with mushroom sauce and steak with garlic butter, and the desserts, crème brûlée included, are made fresh each morning. A pool table, a dart board and a big screen for live sport sit on the bar side, and expats, long-stay visitors and Laguna hotel guests make up much of the crowd.
