Baba Nest is the rooftop bar of Sri Panwa, a square deck high on Cape Panwa with views running from Phang Nga Bay to the hills of Phuket. A narrow infinity edge pool rings the deck, so the roof seems to drop away into the sea, and the seating is large floor cushions. The drinks list runs to thirteen pages with Mexican tapas alongside, and tables are held with a credit card, sometimes days ahead.
“Epic location, by far the best sunset bar we have ever been to.”

Kata Rocks is a resort of white villas on a rocky headland, styled on the lines of a superyacht, and the Michelin Guide includes it in its hotel selection. Its Dining on the Rocks dinner puts a private candlelit table on the shoreline rocks, a few steps from the waves. The four course set menu comes Thai or Western, costs 5,500 baht a head for two or more, and runs in season when the weather allows.
“We had the most incredible proposal experience at Kata Rocks.”

Malika is the rooftop restaurant and bar on the sixth floor of Kalima Resort, on the hillside between Patong and Kamala. The roof takes in 180 degrees of the Andaman Sea, and the daybeds set in water along its edge are the most sought-after seats at sunset. The menu leans Western, with a barbecue seafood tower stacked with lobster and tiger prawns, and a live duo plays most evenings.
“It was absolutely delicious, and the view was beautiful as well.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
