Campus Coffee Roasters began with a university student roasting beans, and it now roasts single-origin coffee from northern Thailand, with a dark Classic blend and a lighter Ocean blend that adds Ethiopian beans. The Honey Espresso on the Rock is a double espresso with honey served like a martini, with lime and brown sugar on the rim, and the affogato sinks coconut milk ice cream in a double ristretto. The Old Town cafe is furnished like a classroom, with school desks and chairs, and now and then it holds free coffee cupping sessions.

The Shelter Coffee belongs to the barista who won Thailand's first national AeroPress Championship in 2016 and went on to compete at the world championship in Dublin. The bar is set up so customers can watch each cup brewed by AeroPress or pour over, and the house creations include the White Bomb, the Voodoo and a cold brew steeped for 72 hours. Breakfast is just as serious, with bagels heaped with scrambled eggs, served to bossa nova in a room of bamboo, wood and big windows that opens onto a garden.
“The coffee was easily the best I’ve had in all of Thailand.”

Graph, a coffee brand that started in Chiang Mai, builds its own drinks around Thai specialty coffee and shows them on a picture menu. The Monochrome puts a black layer of activated charcoal over vanilla milk and espresso, the Downtown mixes cold brew with lime, mint and ginger ale, and canelés and madeleines are sold alongside. It keeps its Sino-Portuguese shophouse on Phang Nga Road darker and warmer than most cafes, with low lighting and sofa seats.
“Graph Café was one of the most memorable coffee experiences I had in Phuket.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
