Hock Hoe Lee is Phuket's original coffee roaster, founded in 1958 by a Chinese immigrant who sold roasted beans to tin mine workers beside the Phuket Town market. Three generations on, the family roasts certain beans together for its own blends, and its Rawai cafe on Wiset Road pours espresso, organic coffee and bottled cold brew. All-day breakfasts run from eggs Benedict and baked egg skillets to baked pancakes, with cold-pressed juices made from local produce.

Neko is a cat cafe on Soi Saiyuan where about a dozen resident cats, some of them street rescues, roam a room kept so clean that it has no smell. Entry is free, visitors pay only for coffee, smoothies and desserts, and the owners let guests pet and feed the cats. Paintings of cats hang on the walls, and a small shop sells cat-themed bracelets and gifts.

Boost coats its brioche in crushed cornflakes for a crunchy cinnamon toast, served with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Its popular Snickers smoothie is made with dates and peanut butter, and any shake can take a scoop of whey protein for anyone coming straight from a Muay Thai or CrossFit class.
