Agli Amici bakes pizza tonda Romana, a thin crust that shatters at the first bite yet holds its toppings, with a smoky char from the wood-fired oven. There are more than 40 topping combinations, and it pays to check the size chart, because a small is bigger than it sounds and the large is huge. The Italian owners do the cooking for a crowd that comes mostly from Chalong and Rawai.
“Very reasonable house wine with glasses filled to the rim.”

Before you order at Little Roma, house-made focaccia comes to the table with olive oil and aged balsamic, and the pizzas come out of a big wood-fired oven that stands in a corner of the dining room. The dough is raised with natural yeast in the Neapolitan style, and if you would rather have pasta, the tagliatelle in Thai green curry is the surprise of the menu. Mario and Anna run it as the sister restaurant of Little Paris, and there is a terrace at Porto de Phuket for days when you want to sit outside.
“The pizza had a perfectly crispy crust, and the pasta was cooked to perfection.”

Da Moreno runs five pizzerias around the island, and expats use them as much for quick delivery as for a table. The group makes its own cheese and cold cuts for the Neapolitan pizzas it bakes in wood-fired ovens. At the Phuket Town branch, ask for the zappa, a rectangular pizza baked on cast iron with a thin, crisp crust that is not on the menu.

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
