Salaloy holds a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide for fresh seafood cooked with care, such as sillago fish deep-fried with turmeric and a shrimp paste dip served with vegetables. From the grill come squid with seafood sauce and sea bass cooked in a coat of salt, eaten at tables that look across to Rawai pier as the sun goes down. Come early, because some of the seafood can run out, and bring cash.

Nikita's is a seafront restaurant that has been running for more than 35 years, with its tables set beneath a giant tamarind tree hung with white paper lanterns. The front row sits so close to the sea that at high tide the water runs in underneath the tables. Beside the seafood the kitchen cooks pak miang stir-fried with egg, a Southern Thai specialty, and the bar keeps a full wine list and its own cocktails, among them the Bramble in Phuket.

At Mook Manee you choose live seafood from the display out front, pay by weight and tell the kitchen how you want it cooked, salt-grilled or baked with butter and cheese. The Michelin Guide lists the restaurant and names its fragrant clams stir-fried with chili paste as a highlight. You can also buy your own catch at the Rawai seafood market next door, and the kitchen will cook it for a small fee per kilo to eat on the terrace by the beach.

Honorable mentions
Named on only one list we found, so it cannot be ranked under the two-list rule.
“High end dining on the beach!”
a Google reviewer
Named on two lists. You choose live seafood at the stalls and have it cooked next door. It is a market of several cook-shops, not one restaurant, so it is mentioned but not ranked.
“You can pick your favorite seafood and enjoy it at one of the beachfront restaurants with a lovely seaside atmosphere.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
