The stalls on the lower slope below the Phromthep Cape viewpoint sell batik, sarongs, seashell handicrafts, postcards and fridge magnets. Fruit sellers in between offer fresh and dried fruit, sweets and young coconuts, cut open to drink after the walk up to the lookout.
“If you want to buy souvenirs, this is the place. Patong area easily 2-3 times higher.”

Somchai Patamakanthin and his brothers spent decades gathering shells from some 2,000 species, and the prize of their Phuket Seashell Museum is a golden pearl of 140 carats. Tiger cowries and noble volutes fill the cases around a single shell that weighs 250 kilograms. On the ground floor, the shop sells shell jewelry and carvings beside strings of pearls.
“A great selection of common and rare shells and 15% off at the shop”

Fresh meat, seafood and fruit counters set Lotus's go fresh apart from the convenience stores along Rawai Beach, though it is still a small shop, open from 6 in the morning until 10.30 at night. Many items are marked down shortly before closing, and there is space to park outside.
“Before closing many items below the normal price.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
