Lock Tien fries its thick yellow Hokkien noodles with pork, squid and egg until they pick up a little char, then tops them with red char siu. The fresh spring rolls, which its sign calls hundred-year spring rolls, are wrapped in skins made in house and covered in a thick, sweet brown sauce. You order at the hatch from photo panels in Thai and English, in the shophouse on Bangkok Road where the family moved in 2025 after leaving its old corner food court.

Raya opened in 1994, when Kularb Jesadawal, a former bank employee, began serving her family's Phuket home cooking in an early twentieth century Sino-Portuguese mansion. The rooms keep their original mosaic floor tiles, with old tea and coffee posters on the walls, and the owner still makes the rounds of the tables. The spicy crab curry in coconut milk, poured over thin rice noodles, is recommended.

Every Sunday afternoon Thalang Road closes to traffic and a double row of stalls fills its center, with the old Sino Portuguese shophouses standing on either side. Most things cost under 100 baht, so the way to eat is to graze, a plate of crab fried rice at one stall and grilled enoki wrapped in bacon at the next. Living statues and breakdance crews hold the street corners, and the crowd thickens as the evening goes on.
“The streets are filled with amazing street food, local snacks, and unique shopping stalls.”

“Live music creates a fun atmosphere, while cozy restaurants, cafés, and small bars line the charming streets.”

How the points work
We read every independent published best-of list we can find for the question. Each list gives 10 points for first place, 9 for second, down to 1 for tenth, and 5 points to each place on a list with no order. Points are added up. A business must be in the top 10 of at least two lists to be ranked. Rankings are never sold. Full method.
